The proper function of a man is to live, not exist. I shall not waste my days trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.  ~ Jack London

Even the most positive-minded person sometimes feels like life is difficult.   When you feel like that, consider the following:

  1. Don’t panic – avoid losing your head, stay calm, and give yourself time to think.
  2. Don’t get overwhelmed – dramatizing how bad things are never helps you. Tell yourself that you can handle it.
  3. Practice de-confusion – make a list on paper of each piece of your situation. Know what you are facing, really.
  4. Don’t look back – deal with no; keep moving forward.
  5. Look for the small answers – avoid trying to solve your problem all at once. Think of the solution in steps.
  6. Practice creative listening – the quieter you are, the more likely you are to hear your own solutions.
  7. Do the right thing – in fact, you know what you have to do, so take the first step.
  8. Keep on thinking, believing, and working – what keeps you from solving your problem is the time you waste in worrying about it.
  9. Stay positive – if you don’t believe that you can create your own success, you won’t. Believe in yourself.
